In 1999, Downtown
Miramichi Business Network became the new name of the Newcastle Business Association, which had been formed in 1983 to ensure
that the former Town of Newcastle had a strong, vital and livable business district that all citizens could be proud of. However,
in 2006 after the completion of a Downtown Revitalizaiton Strategy focused on Miramichi's two downtowns the name DowntownS
Miramichi - Newcastle Business District was adopted. Our sister Business Improvement Area is now known as DowntownS
Miramichi - Historic Chatham Business District.
Today, the
DowntownS Miramichi - Newcastle Business District still holds the same objectives of the Newcastle Business Association
for the owners and merchants within and around the Business Improvement Area. The organization is controlled by a Board of
Directors, elected by the business community, and is administered by a full time General Manager.
Our
Mission The Mission statement of the DowntownS Miramichi - Newcastle Business District is
to continue to promote, develop and enhance the downtown and surrounding areas through community and economic development.
